Hundreds attend DALVision 2020 summit on undergrad education

Students, faculty and senior administrators attended yesterday’s DALVision 2020, a full-day forum on the future of undergraduate education hosted by the Dalhousie University Senate.
Former King’s professor and nationally acclaimed speaker on education Nick Mount spoke to the crowd and said a decline in quality of undergraduate education is due to an increase in enrolment and insufficient funding.
“I don’t think the problem is teaching per se,” said Mount. “It’s simply a numbers problem.”
Members of the King’s Students’ Union council also attended, including Nick Stark, president, and Omri Haiven, external vice president. An ideal university environment, Haiven said, is created by “the stability to be uncomfortable.”
