This weekend, convention-goers from across the Maritimes and beyond took over the World Trade & Convention Centre and the stadium floor of the Scotiabank Centre in downtown Halifax for this year’s edition of the Hal-Con sci-fi, fantasy and gaming convention.
Since 2010, Hal-Con has been taking place in Halifax and has been steadily growing. Along with growing in size and ticket sales, they’ve also been host to a notable list of guests. This year, guests included Natalia Tena (Nymphadora Tonks in the Harry Potter series, Osha in Game of Thrones), Aaron Ashmore (Smallville, Warehouse 13), Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett in the Star Wars franchise), and more.
Events throughout the weekend included Q & A panels with guests, fan-run panels, constant game-play on the gaming floor, workshops, a flash mob and a costume contest.
