If you’ve spent any time on the King’s campus, you’ve likely seen Finnegan –  Rev. Dr. Ranall Ingalls’s corgi – trotting around charming students and faculty alike. As the unofficial mascot of our university, Finnegan has become a beloved fixture, bringing joy to everyone he meets. 

On Feb. 18, he turned eight! It’s only fitting that we celebrate with a special Q&A featuring the King himself.

Q: What’s your daily routine?

A: It depends if I’m spending the day with my mom or dad. When I’m with dad, we get to school by 8 a.m. A little later in the morning, we’ll go for a walk. Sometimes, a student will take me for a walk, which I really like. I spend the majority of my time in my dad’s office. It can be boring, and I let him know, so my dad will send me to the library to see my best friend Tracy Lenfesty, the librarian.

Q: What’s the coolest trick you know?

A: Well, I know lots of tricks. Sitting, laying down, rolling over or even shaking a paw. But my coolest trick is catching a ball in midair.

Q: What’s your favourite place on campus?

A: The library. I get to hang out with my best friend, Tracy.

Q: Where’s your favourite place to go off campus?

A: Home to the valley. I get to torment my parents’ cat and there’s a big yard to run around in. I also love being lazy and sitting in front of our fireplace.

Q: What do you like most about King’s?

A: I love the students. Most importantly, I love when they give me attention.
