The holiday season should be a time of post-exam bliss. Snuggled up with a cozy blanket and a hot chocolate watching the snow fall is a stress-free dream. But buying gifts can be another thing to worry about once the semester comes to an end. I’m no astrologer, but let’s look to the stars to find that perfect gift.

Aries: March 21 – April 19

Ruled by Mars, Aries are bold, fun, and lead with their hearts. The perfect gift for them? Anything that will appeal to their active nature and constantly on-the-go lifestyle, like a pair of roller skates, headphones, or a handmade pair of warm mittens for chilly days. Aries live to compete, so a night out to The Board Room Game Café is another great choice if they love milkshakes and board games.

Taurus: April 20 – May 20

Ruled by Venus, Tauruses are hardworking, determined, and appreciate a cozy night-in after a long day. The Taurus in your life would appreciate a gift that adds to their homey vibe, like a bottle of wine, homemade cookies, or a new record for the record player they bought in 2014.

Gemini: May 21 – June 20

Energetic, sentimental, and indecisive, Geminis would appreciate a gift that helps them stay focused on their work. If not, get them a personalized puzzle or blanket with an inside joke or heartwarming pictures.

Leo: July 23 – August 22

Drama-adoring Leos are ruled by the Sun. They are confident, full of energy, and just want to go out tonight. The best gift for a Leo is a ticket to see a show. Take them to The Pit, The Bus Stop Theatre, or even Neptune Theatre to see Disney’s Frozen (Leos love a musical). If they (shockingly) hate theatre, take them out for drinks and dancing downtown. Leos just want a reason to dress up.

Virgo: August 23 – September 22

Detail oriented Virgos are typically coffee drinkers. Ruled by Mercury, they are precise and analytical perfectionists, but humble to their core. They always look cool with their cup of coffee in one hand while finishing today’s crossword with the other. A pour-over coffee maker with filters for their desk is a great addition to their day. They are also typically great cooks, so a new cookbook by their favourite celebrity chef is a great gift for your Virgo friend. 

Libra: September 23 – October 22

Indecisive Libras probably don’t know what they want this year for themselves. Ruled by Venus, they are charming and beautiful but have trouble deciding on anything. The perfect gift for them would be a skin care or beauty product like a L’Occitane hand cream or a new lip gloss. They also appreciate art, so a new print for their wall or handmade painting would be loved by the Libra in your life. 

Scorpio: October 23 – November 21

People say Scorpios are mysterious, but they are no mystery to me. Ruled by Mars, they are passionate problem solvers which can make them seem intense sometimes. Find one with a theme your Scorpio would love and invite a couple of their friends for a night they’ll never forget. 

Sagittarius: November 22 – December 21

Your Sagittarius friend desperately wants to travel. Ruled by Jupiter, this fire sign is always looking for a new place to explore with their seemingly endless energy. If you have a free weekend, take your Sagittarian on a weekend away to a town in Nova Scotia they haven’t been to before, and buy them a souvenir. If a weekend away isn’t possible, buy them that piece of camping gear they have been wanting.

Capricorn: December 22 – January 19

If their birthday is during the holidays, don’t be that person and lump the two gifts together. Ruled by Saturn, Capricorns are relentless and can get wrapped up in their job easily, but they have a secret wild side. They love to dance on tables and let loose whenever they have the chance. Gift your Capricorn a cocktail shaker set and a bottle of tequila so they can make some delicious after-work margaritas. 

Aquarius: January 20 – February 18

Aquarians are ruled by two planets, Saturn and Uranus, which makes them eccentric. These weirdos are clever and creative. Pisces: February 19 – March 20

Pisces people are supposedly a little bit psychic and otherworldly. Ruled by Neptune and Jupiter, the best gift for them is anything that lets them teleport elsewhere and feel enveloped by a different world. A fantasy book or a new video game to get lost in is their ideal evening. Pisces would also appreciate a night out at the movies with all the popcorn they could possibly eat.
